The guide is great, in Lonely Planet fashion. However, I bought this book in addition to the Lonely Planet Thailand guide, thinking it would have extra content. This islands and beaches guide has a few things the Thailand guide does not, mostly in the beginning of the book, but otherwise the location content is the same. Just a heads up- no need to buy both books.
Best travel guide. Very entertaining, not dry at all.
Love it and hope to go there next year.

An excellent book describing in detail everything you need to know to have a great time on Thailand's islands and beaches. I've lived in Thailand for 11 years and have been to many of these places using this book- it's all as described. I've written a book about moving here and living a happy daily life in a northern city How I Moved to Thailand, Retired Early, Found Love, Built a Mansion, and Live Like a King on a Dime But the islands of Thailand, as described so well in this book...ah...still a tropical paradise! Still a dream!
Very informative read about the thai islands and beaches. It really helped me narrow down on places to stay and areas that most interests me. Highly recommended.
