The nicest part of the Moon travel books is that their listings typically include truly afforable lodging & restaurants--not those $100+ places listed in other travel guides.
I am taking our family on a trip to Arizona this spring, and this book was a major part of the planning. It'll be part of my carry-on luggage and with us every mile of the trip.

nice guide and lots of pictures, the maps are not a good reference though. all the places do not find a fast and reliable map reference

This is a really well organized guidebook for Arizona. The book organizes the state into seven different regions and provides complete information for weather, sightseeing, etc. for each region. This organizational format facilitates trip planning for me in terms of what to include and what to save for a later date. The weather information is particularly helpful since Arizona has such diverse terrains and weather, that various regions can be best enjoyed in different seasons. In turn, Phoenix is again subdivided into different areas, making a touring day so much simpler to plan.The guide offers a sample itinerary for touring the state as well as day trip suggestions for each area, along with suggestions for scenic routes, lodging and restaurants. As with other Moon guides, I appreciate the descriptive element in the narrative in addition to the factual. It helps the state come alive for me, and certain sites and restaurants simply jump out as places I must go see or eat at. Although not essential for me, I also find the color photographs to be a plus.The final thing I really like about this guide is that I do not feel as though I need to supplement it with another guide since it feels very complete. We have visited Arizona many times and, being from California, will be visiting the state many more times. I found the description of places that we have already visited to be accurate. I had thought we pretty much have seen most of what there is to see in Arizona, but this guide suggested much more for us to explore, and I am looking forward to our next trip to Arizona, accompanied by this guide.
